Gameplay Updates

  • Remove Score, and update Grades as a result
  • The last 100 levels of a session are faster now
  • Update fuel regeneration mechanic now occurs after every 100 levels
  • Update depletion rates between modes
  • You no longer have to fill the bar twice to get into overflow
  • Update default 'B' button on controllers, it's now the left button rather than the right
  • On XBOX, it's 'X' instead of 'B'. On Playstation 'SQUARE' instead of 'CIRCLE'.
  • Fix the swap buffer, there is a 5 frame buffer for swap input. This was always intended, but it wasn't working before.
  • Allow pausing during the countdown

Difficulty changes

  • Dwarf and Practice now run with 4 colors instead of 5, ideally making it easier to make bigger combos and chains
  • Smooth out the difficulty shift in STANDARD, slowly decrease to maximum rise speed, reaching it lvl 700. Other difficulties were not touched.

Visual Changes 

  • Add a refueling animation for the start of a session and when a lap is complete
  •  Invert Cognac's fuel assets Add Soba's board, character portrait, and theme 
  • The top right panel in Classic (above the character portrait) now shows the *estimated grade for a session, as well as the progress of a current lap 
  • Fix character speech positions Add a "ghost bar" behind the fuel tank indicating where fuel will refill to after a lap 
  • Separate the refilling process into lap refuel and "bonus" refilling to better show how much bonus fuel a user generates during a lap 
  • Add game mode descriptions to main menu 
  • Remove auto progression from tutorial and add a "PRESS 'A'" prompt 
  • Dwarf is now the default difficulty in the difficulty select screen 
  • The menu remembers your last selected mode and will suggest that the next time you do a run
  • Add a line to the difficulty screen that shows what skill level of the player each difficulty is suited for 
  • Update swap barrier to something more readable and apparent 
  • Fix inappropriate character reactions for different grades Add 'LEVEL UP' indicator 
  • Fix early menu transitions, you have to wait for the transition to complete before interacting 
  • Add snail-specific dialogue, play faster slowpoke 
  • Fix JB overflow colors Add color to the scrolling star background 
  • Fix special match notification sprites from overflowing (ex: looping back down to 2 at chain 11) 
  • Update default records Update the main menu including options, with descriptions of each menu route 
  • Add options to clear records and options 

Audio Changes 

  • Add options menu music 

Fixing the Softlock 

  • Matching-making code occurs at the END of a frame now 

Other

  • Replace the in-house audio system with Vinyl, a third-party audio management package (using it for 'audio ducking')
  • Encrypt persistent data files to prevent nefarious behavior 
  • Fix bug in tutorial causing swaps not to occur
